Trost Moving Pictures Announces Partnership With Narrative Television Network

Those Who Are Blind & Visually Impaired Able To Enjoy 2010’s Most Anticipated Holiday Film – A CHRISTMAS SNOW

Tulsa, OK ~ Trost Moving Pictures (TMP) announces their partnership with the Emmy Award-winning Narrative Television Network (NTN), a leader in making television programming and movies accessible to the nation’s 13 million blind and visually impaired people and their families.  Consumers have benefited from NTN for over 22 years, enabling the blind and visually impaired to follow television programs and movies by providing description between existing dialogue, which gives access to the visual elements of the program. Tracy J Trost, TMP lead visionary and director of A Christmas Snow, has partnered with Jim Stovall, Co-Founder and President of NTN, for the sole purpose of providing entertaining and inspiring books and movies to audiences everywhere including the visually impaired.

Jim Stovall is co-executive producer of A Christmas Snow, so it made perfect sense for TMP to partner with him and the Narrative Television Network.  The A Christmas Snow DVD menu will offer an alternate audio track so that blind and visually impaired audiences can enjoy the film as well.

“The choices for descriptive audio movies are very small,” says Trost, “but thanks to Narrative Television Network, the library is growing. We’re excited to have A Christmas Snow be a part of the NTN library.  I think it is important for content creators to understand that there is a large audience that would love to enjoy their content if they could.  Everyone loves to watch movies.  Even the visually impaired.  With NTN’s ‘Narrative for the Blind’ they can enjoy the same great movies and television that the seeing can.”

About Tracy J Trost:

Director Tracy J Trost is a visionary who continues to challenge the industry’s status quo, yet successfully building a film career working outside the conventional big budget studios. His approach to filmmaking is led by his desire to tell a compelling story based on real details of everyday life with the hope that audiences walk away genuinely touched by the outcome. A Christmas Snow is a complete package filled with love, emotions, faith, and humor mixed with redemption, reconciliation, and forgiveness.

About Narrative Television Network:

Narrative Television Network makes television, home videos, and movies accessible to blind and visually impaired people and their families by unobtrusively adding the voice of a narrator to the existing programming sound track, without interfering with any of the original audio or video. This programming is also available worldwide on the Internet via their web site at www.narrativetv.com. The programming is available free-of-charge, 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week.

Narrated for the Blind

Did you know there are 13 million blind or visually impaired Americans? Have you ever thought about how they might be able to enjoy a movie or TV show like you? The next time you’re watching your favorite TV show or movie, close your eyes and listen, it doesn’t take long before you get lost and miss things that are only given with visual cues.

So what’s the solution? Thankfully, our friend and best selling author Jim Stovall and his team at the Emmy Award-winning Narrative Television Network have been working tirelessly to remedy the situation for years. Even more rewarding for us at Trost Moving Pictures is the fact that A Christmas Snow will be able to be enjoyed by our 13 million visually impaired or blind audience members because of the work that Jim and his team are doing.

A Christmas Snow, Narrated for the Blind DVD Insert

Inside every DVD of A Christmas Snow will be an insert (see above) describing that there is a, “Narrated for the Blind” audio track and how you can activate it on your copy of the movie. We invite you to try it out on your copy this Christmas Season and watch A Christmas Snow once again with your eyes closed, your ears open, and experience it again in a whole new way. We think you’ll have a whole new appreciation for your fellow Americans. We hope you’ll be as excited as us to know that they too can be entertained and inspired through A Christmas Snow, just like you!

The Crowd Went Wild!

The first public screening of “A Christmas Snow” was a huge success at the Gideon Film Festival in Black Mountain, NC this past weekend.

Thank you to the 250+ people that came out to the screening and stayed for the Q & A with the cast and crew.

The audience cheered, laughed, and cried as the story unfolded and the only complaint we received was that we needed more Kleenexes. After the screening, Catherine Mary Stewart, Muse Watson, Cameron ten Napel, Chad Gundersen, Jason Stafford, and Tracy J Trost answered questions from the audience.

If you didn’t make it to the screening you can still see A Christmas Snow before it’s release on October 8th, be sure to check the event calendar right here on the site.

The Screener is Done!

After thousands of hours put in by our incredible cast and crew, we are proud to say, the Screener of A Christmas Snow is done! We’ll make a few more tweaks before the final retail DVD, but for those of you attending the Gideon Film Festival later this week, A Christmas Snow is ready to go.

Late Saturday night or actually Sunday morning, from 2AM – 4AM Tracy J Trost and myself sat in the edit suite and watched this beautiful story all the way through from beginning to end for the first time with color, sound, graphics, and music all complete.

I wanted to give a big thank you to Randy Stuehm our DP and Editor for the long hours he put in editing and coloring the film. I also want to thank Jason Moore who wrote an incredible score for this film. Everyone who took part in this project should be very proud and I can’t wait to share it with those of you who will see it for the first time at the Gideon next Sunday, June 6th.

Thank you again to everyone and to all our fans for your support and for spreading the word about A Christmas Snow.

With much Gratitude – Joe Jestus

Say That Again… And Again…

(Cameron ten Napel "ADR" session for A Christmas Snow)

Today we’re at Jim Stovall’s Narrative Television Network Studio in Tulsa, OK for ADR (Additional Dialogue Recording) or looping as it’s know to some people. What is that, you’re asking? Google it! Just kidding…

Sometimes on a set, a car drives by, clothes rustle, or some other audio interference makes the lines of an actor less than ideal. In those cases it’s necessary to get the actor or actress to re-record the lines for the film. This is what ADR or looping is. The actor watches the scene on a TV and then re-records their line to match their mouth in the scene. They also have to match the tone and intensity as well. Sometimes it’s easy and sometimes its trick, but with a cast like ours every time, it’s FUN!

Catherine Mary Stewart, Muse Watson, and Cameron ten Napel all came into town for the day to record some lines and as director and co-writer Tracy J Trost said it was like a Family Reunion. Composer Jason Moore brought in his mobile recording station and got the job done quickly. Hopefully in the weeks ahead I’ll have a quick video showing the process, but for now enjoy these pictures.

The “A Christmas Snow” Orchestra

The Live Orchestra at "The Music Group" in OKC

Right now I’m at The Music Group in Oklahoma City, watching Jason Moore the composer on A Christmas Snow conduct an 11 piece orchestra for the soundtrack of the film. All I can say is, wow! What an amazing talent each of these players are and it’s incredible to hear the music come together.

DISCLAIMER: I am a big fan of classical/orchestra music in the first place, but to hear it composed and played for A Christmas Snow is such an incredible experience. I can’t wait till you all hear it in the final product, but you can get a sneak peek of it in next week’s TMP INsider Newsletter. If you aren’t an INsider yet, you can sign up right here on the A Christmas Snow website by going to the Social Tab and then TMP INsider.

Sign up now and be one of the first to hear a clip from the orchestral arrangement for A Christmas Snow.

Thanks to all of our fans for your support and to all the talented musicians who are now a part of the A Christmas Snow journey.

A Huge Success at Biola!

(Our logo was on every table at the VIP dinner, lots of fun!)

As many of you know, Trost Moving Pictures the studio behind A Christmas Snow was the sponsor of the VIP Dinner at the Biola Media Conference on the CBS Studios lot this last weekend.

TMP and Destiny Image Films were in attendance to show the Extended Trailer and talk about the projects we are working on beyond A Christmas Snow.

The trailer was well received and writer/director Tracy J Trost had the crowd laughing with his usual jovial demeanor. And that’s exactly why TMP was proud to be a part of this event. It is our desire to bring a different aire to the film and media world and to leave a lasting impression on all those we meet.

Whether it’s creating a great atmosphere on set or getting a group of industry insiders laughing, we aim to serve others with the talents we’ve been given and we thoroughly enjoyed being a part of Biola this year, so much so that we told them to put us down next year as the dinner sponsors again. Thank you Kathy and Phil Cooke, Peggy Rupple, and Biola for letting Trost Moving Pictures, Destiny Image Films, and A Christmas Snow be a part of this year’s event!
